New for LG’s 2018 TVs is an additional burn-in prevention feature called "Logo Luminance Adjustment." It’s designed to automatically detect a static on-screen logo and, after two minutes, start decreasing its brightness over about a minute and a half, after which the logo should be 20 percent dimmer. CNET’s initial tests of the feature found it does reduce logo brightness a bit, but we don’t expect it to be a cure-all given the relatively mild percentage decrease.

Trump’s inability to pass significant border legislation despite Republicans controlling the House and the Senate is mostly his own fault. After signing an executive order that ostensibly placed the onus on Congress to end the administration’s family separation policy, the president offered little guidance to House Republicans. After failing to endorse either immigration bill put forth by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), and even telling Republicans to “stop wasting their time” with immigration, Trump abruptly endorsed a compromised version of the bill the morning it was set to go to vote. It was too late, though. Nothing passed. As the year draws to a close, Trump’s relationship with Congress hasn’t gotten any less confused, nor will it once Democrats take over next month.

Yes, it’s true I’m going to live on a nut farm. The potential for bad jokes is nearly endless. Conservatively speaking every chestnut tree you plant produces about $10,000 worth of nuts in 50 years. The trees can survive for thousands of years which means over the long-term, it’s pretty much crazy to NOT plant blight-resistant hybrid Chestnut trees. If you lose sleep at night about global warming like I do, planting hundreds of trees is one very real thing you can do to be part of the solution. The way our current agricultural system is set up, in another 60 harvests there is not going to be any topsoil left to grow anything in anymore anywhere in the US. This is a very real problem that no one is even talking about, we must start learning to grow food on trees NOW if we are going to have any topsoil left in this country. Here’s a section of a 2018 LG C8 OLED TV screen displaying a gray test pattern after 5 hours watching CNN on the brightest (Vivid) mode. They’re the same image, but we’ve circled the section with the logo on the right to highlight it. To see it better, turn up the brightness. In person, it’s more visible in a dark room, but much less visible with moving images as opposed to a test pattern. Since it disappeared after running LG’s Pixel Refresher (see below), this is an example if image retention and not burn-in.
